CEBA Meeting @ OIWC

  • Monday, March 13, 2023
  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Oatland Island Wildlife Center

Registration is closed

CEBA will be having their normal 2nd Monday Night meeting at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center.  We will be recapping the difference between Splits with mated Queens Vs Splits raising your own Queen.

Topic #1:  How to separate your nurse bees when you want them to raise 1 or more queens for you.  Note:  Several beekeepers are performing splits, but the method used is when you are "introducing a mated queen".  We will be discussing methods to get all your nurse bees into one box & why.

Topic 2(as time permits):  How to work with large colonies (3+ boxes tall) when the bees are fighting your veil, your smoker, your gloves, etc.  There are many techniques that are very easy, but methodology and/or smoke can trigger an out-of-control situation.
