July 9th Workshop teams tackled the slightly temperamental bees at Oatland! The Team was led by Rob Liakos who decided to ADD a Queen Cell to this colony since a queen could not be validated. An almost capped Qn Cell was added (Cell Age 8-9 days old), and we all know Queens hatch on Day 16. So, July 16th should have a queen emerged, or emerging.
Starting at 10 AM we will be pulling the frame to inspect the Queen Cell!
CEBA will have Teams go back and validate all the other marked queens from July 9th!
IF you missed the reasoning behind requeening the rather aggressive bees VS relocating or killing the colony, we will review this before we open the hive from July 9th. We are expecting the bees to be calmer due to the "hopeful" acceptance of this new queen emerging.
