2nd Saturday Workshop - Honey Extraction & Varroa

  • Saturday, July 09, 2022
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Oatland Island Wildlife Center

Registration is closed

July 9th Workshop will have Members pulling honey frames, for Laura Liu's in-class honey extraction review.   Laura and others will be providing various techniques in "uncapping" comb.   Hot knife Vs Cold knife; Roller Picks Vs Comb Pics; and even some fancy tools that some beekeepers claim is the new crave!

Starting at 9 AM we will be pulling comb and setting up for Laura's Workshop to start at 10 AM sharp.  This is also "Hands On" so if you want to try a few tools YOU haven't used, this is YOUR chance!

CEBA also has a bee colony that is border line a little too "touchy" for our Public bee-yard.  Several Members will be performing the Varroa Alcohol Wash Method for educational purposes, but also to reduce down the bee population.  IF you do not know how to collect 300 bees per sample, this is another chance to perform the task with YOUR hands.  Several Members will be overseeing working this bee colony.  We are hoping this colony has "requeened" but that still leaves us with some "not so nice" bees to deal with while stealing their honey!!

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!

Please RSVP so we know how to plan the evening!
