Coastal Empire Beekeepers monthly meeting

Coastal Empire Beekeepers Assn. hosts meetings on the second Monday of each month. Each features a speaker (guest or local beekeeper). Topics will be announced as the details are finalized. Social time: 6-6:30 p.m. Meeting time: 6:30-8 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public. Annual membership dues: $25 for a single, $45 for a family. Monday Night Speaker:  

  Keith Fielder has had a strong interest in honey bees since age six, and has been active in beekeeping for most of his life. He has been an invited educational speaker and guest lecturer on apicultural topics at the state, national and international levels.  He is a staff member of the annual Young Harris College - University of Georgia Beekeeping Institute, and also teaches at the University of Florida Bee College and the Auburn University Honey Bee Symposium.

   Keith is a Senior Welsh Honey Judge and a Georgia Master Beekeeper. He has served as President of the Georgia Beekeepers Association and was named GBA’s Beekeeper of the Year in 2009. Keith currently serves as vice-chair of the Georgia Farm Bureau Honeybee commodity committee.

   He is employed by the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service as the County Extension Coordinator for Putnam County. He holds degrees in Biology and Animal Science.

   Keith and his wife Rose Anne are side line beekeepers and reside in Eatonton, Georgia.
